Place worked great for our large group. Resort is far from town but lots of places close for food. 2 restraints are walkable maybe 3 rest, golf cart recommended. Staff was amazing and accommodated when needed. 12 villas share a common pool but was just a 2 minute walk. On the beach with a dock and seawall so not sand castle Beach but still nice and relaxing. Only issue was mattresses more firm than preferred but mattresses are pretty personal. 1 room should have been a king it was not, not an issue for us. Planting of seating for large group, plenty of dishes etc. Overall excellent would recommend!

La Perla delivers an exotic stay in beautiful Ambergris Caye

Our group of 7 of us stayed at the Amethyst Villa at La Perla. We were very pleased with the experience. The secluded villas on the Caribbean Sea offered a sense of tranquility. The unit was decorated in an exotic Moroccan decor which gave a unique feel to the villa. Definitely not cookie cutter. We enjoyed our coffee and cocktails on the expansive front deck and relaxing in the mornings and late afternoons in the bedroom hammocks. The cons of the unit is that at least in this villa there was significant road noise at all times of the day and night with trucks passing by. The Villa is situated close to the road. The south end bedroom on the second floor also offered an uncomfortable mattress, describing it more as a futon. We enjoyed a great beach side lunch at Sunset Deck just south of the resort. Also breakfast at Matachica is recomended. Overall would recommend for a group of family or friends who want to stay together in a home rather than seperate units.

Great week full of many adventures.
1. Cave tubing - the long version. Michaela was so helpful to arrange flights and connect us with a guide for a private full day experience. Fly there- it’s a full day and the flights are so fun for sightseeing
2. Diving - get outside the reef and enjoy amazing corals, sharks, rays and new scenery
3. Chicken drop- winner winner.
4. BBQ boat- sunset cruise
4. Food: Frenchy’s was delicious, the Pupusa restaurant on middle steeet- she makes to order- so many local markets with amazing produce and pizza and ice cream at the Truck Stop. The Baker, bakery south of town, has incredible cinnamon rolls and other goodies.

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at La Perla. The villa and the property was so beautiful,and we loved being just far enough away from the busy town.Two great restaurants are within a short walk along the beach, and the pool as well as the private dock were great for hanging out and relaxing . Thoroughly enjoyable celebration for my spouse with nine family members. Being the first Belize visit, Michaela was a great host and insured that our entire stay was memorable! The Villa was everything and more than expected! Excursion fun with zip lining, cave tubing and snorkeling complimented the local meals and beachside fun! Massages on the dock serenaded by ocean sounds were fantastic! We capped it off with a catered meal that was delicious along with personality of the Chefs. Ask if we’ll return “Better Belize-It”

Amethyst villa was a great place for our fall break. It had ample space for two families (4 adults and 4 kids). The villa was nicely decorated and very clean. The beach and the pool were within a few steps. The service was excellent including fresh coconut delivery, chef-prepared dinner, security, and cleaning service. Michaela is an excellent host and responds to all inquiries and needs promptly. I strongly recommend La Perla as a vacation spot.

We spent a total of 8 days in this beautiful place. From the beginning the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. We were able to get linked to a nearby dive shop to set up all of our aquatic excursions. Each adventure was top notch with professional tour guides and allowed us to minimize the troubles of planning. The team was super helpful throughout. Not to mention the location is unbeatable, close to San Pedro with picture perfect sunrises and sunsets. Thanks again to the team for an unforgettable experience.

This is our second stay at La Perla. We love the location which is on the beach. Most of all the great service from the staff which are so warm and friendly. We really appreciated the everyday cleaning service as we like to have a least one meal a day there. They come in a do all the dishes, the floors and do a amazing job of keeping the villa looking perfect. Also really enjoyed Action Dives with Roberto and Dilson and Mathew! They were great.

We had the opportunity to stay at La Perla again and brought some friends for their first trip to Ambergris.
We had a great time. As other reviews have mentioned the grounds are outstanding. The pool was just redone and looks beautiful! Since there are just 12 villas at the resort it is not crowded and very relaxing.
A special thanks to workers Saan and Chris who went out of their way to take care of all of our needs.
A new addition is Roberto's dive shop co located at the front office. He has operated his shop at Portofino nearby for many years and his bringing his great sevices to La Perla!
We used Roberto for a fishing and beach barbecue which everyone enjoyed. One person went on a scuba dive which he said was great. Roberto also picked us up downtown and brought us to La Perla on his boat which is a great way to be brought to the resort. Golf carts are available thru the front office to explore the island. Make sure you ask Roberto for fresh lobster which can be caught right near the resort!

We had a wonderful week-long stay in Amethyst. My brother got married on the grounds and we had plenty of room for a small reception afterwards. The kitchen was well-equipped for the chef who prepared the wedding luncheon. The staff were so helpful in suggesting and booking excursions for us. We will definitely be back.

This was one of our family's most interesting Christmas gatherings. The Amethyst villa was terrific --beautiful, roomy enough for adults & separate downstairs room for our grandkids. Pool area was lovely and inviting & the grounds impeccable. We relished our balcony view of the palms and the sea. Fun nearby casual restaurants -- one with a bonfire and music and volleyball. We loved snorkeling, fishing, Sec Beach, waterslides. Alexa and staff were wonderful. Storms were exciting. A few downsides: golfcart travel through potholes bumpy at best; after storms huge potholes on sideroads; really wanted more light in living room in evenings; no working wireless on arrival, dangerously slippy showers (bathtowels saved us).

It is a beautiful location. At night it is super romantic and quiet. It is literally paradise. It is pretty far out of city limits, so plan accordingly and this time of the season the seaweed stunk up the location (most of the island) pretty badly. We rented out 2 villas and will be coming back!

We are located 5 miles north of San Pedro, so our guests are able to enjoy the peace and privacy of the island, yet are close enough to easily get to town for shopping and nightlife. The sargasso seaweed effects most islands in the Caribbean and is worse during certain times of the year than others. Our staff work on our beaches daily to try to keep them clean. We look forward to having you stay again!

House was very clean. Location is a little far from town but nice and quiet and felt very safe. The oven was broken and we had to arrange for a BBQ to be able to do some cooking however The staff was amazing! The kitchen was equipped however very basic cooking tools only. Would have every move if it had a few more items to make cooking easier.

We stayed in Villa Amber, a 2/2 beachfront villa. It was an amazingly beautiful, well appointed, extremely comfortable, perfectly clean and well kept villa! There were 4 separate a/c units in this particular villa, all new and in perfect working order. Kitchen appliances were all in good condition. I am a vrbo owner myself, and know full well how important it is to have good a/c and good mattresses in order for guests to have great sleeping conditions on the beach, and this villa met those requirements. The staff at La Perla, especially Alex, were spot on perfectly attentive, immediately responsive, extremely helpful and incredibly kind and caring to all our needs and endless questions. They even handled booking our excursions, even the last minute ones! Housekeeping came in every other day and put everything back into prestine order, it was lovely. We more than well taken care of, and honestly made to feel like we were their only guests. Could not be happier with La Perla Resort.
We snorkeled twice, both times with Blue Water Diving and like our guide so much the first time, we insisted on using him for our secong trip. Sans was the perfect guide, very knowledgeable, fun, entertaining, understanding and helpful to all of us as we were newbies to snorkeling.
Best food we had on Ambergris Caye was by far the Cilantro Lime Fish Tacos at Elvi's in San Pedro downtown area....even had good prices to boot!
I fell in love with all the different Iguanas that were the full time residents of La Perla Resort, they were so beautiful to watch. The perfectly clean beaches, numerous hammocks and comfortable reclinings deck chairs gave us loads of relaxation. We took the complimentary 2 man kayaks out several times, snorkeled around on our own, and explored the coastline. PERFECT FAMILY VACATION!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Amethyst at La Perla. The house was everything that we had hoped it would be. The La Perla property was everything that we hoped it would be and the service both daily cleaning and concierge assistance by Felix and his staff was more than we expected on our spring break 2017 trip.
While staying at La Perla, we shared the entire resort with one other family. Apparently, most of the other owners did not choose to rent out their villas or use them during our vacation which was just fine by us. From the pool to the hammocks to the dock and the rest of the property, we felt like this resort was our private getaway.
Do's...Rent golf carts, Plan several trips into town, Go to "Not so Secret Beach" if you like the beach, Dive, Dive, Dive(Ramon's Village Diving was fantastic with Chris and Carlos as dive masters). If you aren't certified they have a resort course and a shallow dive that can help you get your feet wet;)
Don'ts..You might want to rent the carts on your own..the shop that they recommended was not very good. We had two carts break down in a week. No ones odds can be that bad.I think the name was Belizean Adventures...Jog along the beach with shoes as undeveloped properties have no beach cleaning and it gets grass buildup and garbage.
All in all..we loved it. This was our second trip to Belize and our first to La Perla.
