San Pedro's International Costa Maya Festival is the only festival of its kind in Central America. It is the biggest festival in Belize, as well as the highlight of Ambergris Caye's entertainment year. 

The week of the festival is the most colorful and busiest weeks on the island. Throughout this week, the air is filled with Punta, reggaeton, reggae, ballads, and salsa mixed with some marimba, steel pan, and mariachi music. People from all over come to the island to be part of this event. Hotels, restaurant, cart rentals, airlines, and water taxis are all busy and need to be booked in advance.
